telecoms sales jobs

There are a wide range of sales jobs in the Telecoms sector. Telecoms carriers typically have a large salesforce targeting either direct corporate customers, wholesale customers (ie other telecoms carriers) or channel partners.

B2B experience desirable for telecoms sales jobs

There are also opportunities at distributors, who often bridge the gap between equipment vendors and their resellers. Telecoms sales jobs require communication, persuasiveness and ambition. At the entry end of the market, people who have worked in other areas of business-to-business sales can often find an opportunity to break into telecoms.

At the higher end, employers are looking for a proven track record of hitting sales targets in a relevant area of the Telecoms sector, as well as an excellent network of contacts. Some telecoms sales are high-volume, highly commoditised in nature, for example least-cost routing to provide cheap business calls.

First-class training and development opportunities in telecoms sales jobs

Others involve a highly consultative approach, crafting large international network solutions, and these will have a much longer sales cycle. For the latter especially, employers will be looking for people who have sold to CxO level and have closed “big ticket” deals.

There is plenty of training available for different techniques in telecommunication sales jobs and these can be useful, especially when a particular methodology matches that used by a prospective employer. There are also certain vendor-accredited certifications that are especially relevant to selling telecoms systems, such as those from Cisco or Avaya.
